How to set it up

Start on one device Open YACS on any of your devices and choose I'm new to YACS.
Add your other devices YACS shows a QR code and a short code like 7-tulip-apple. Scan the QR code with a phone or tablet, or type the code on a computer (I already use YACS on another device) or into yacs join on a server.
Copy on one, paste on another Clips show up on all of them, encrypted end to end.

In a terminal, even over SSH

The yacs command sends and receives clips where there's no clipboard to share: a server you SSH into, a Raspberry Pi, a script or a CI job. Send a log from the server, paste it on your laptop; send a key from your laptop, receive it on the server.

On a Mac or Windows PC, the app installs it for you: Settings → Command line → Install command. All commands

On your computer Press ⌘⇧Space or Ctrl+Shift+Space for a Spotlight-style panel. Paste to send, Enter to copy a clip back with every format it had: text, formatted text, images.
Files too Copy a file and send it like anything else. It arrives in Downloads and on the clipboard.
On your phone or tablet A web app, nothing to install: scan a QR code from another device and it's in. Add it to your home screen to use it like any other app.

How it's private

Every clip is encrypted on your device before it leaves, with a key only your devices have. Clips go through a small server, the relay, which stores them encrypted, can't read them, and deletes them when they expire.

Free to use, or run your own

The apps come set up for the free relay: clips and files up to 10 MB, kept up to an hour. It's run by me as a free service, without an uptime guarantee. For bigger files and longer expiry, run your own relay in a few minutes.
